I have written extensively about dress colour for competitions but I have never tried to make the case for a specific colour before, let alone such an unpopular colour as bright yellow. By bright yellow I mean canary yellow, sunflower yellow or Crayola crayon yellow. So, why should you consider it?
My answer is very clear. You should consider it because very, very few others do. It is, in my opinion, the least popular colour for Ballroom and Latin dresses for adults. This means that not only is it eye-wateringly bright but also rare. That makes it gold dust, doesn’t it? Albeit rather a yellowy gold dust! It’s bright so as adjudicators scan a busy dancefloor, they will definitely see you and it’s so rare that you are almost guaranteed to be the only one in the whole ballroom sporting it. Even better, wear a yellow Ballroom dress for your competition events in the morning and then a yellow Latin dress in the afternoon. That way the adjudicators (assuming they are doing a full day) will remember you and your excellent dancing from the morning and take an extra moment to watch you in the afternoon.
Yes, colours and designs really do have that level of impact. You only need to look at the natural world, specifically the world of birds, to see that colour, shape and movement are extremely important to visual animals. Remember, any Obsession Dancewear design can be custom made for you in an array of colours, even yellow…
